Seam milling machines
Seam milling machines are used for fabricating pipes and vessels as well
as for fabricating towers for wind power units. In many cases the milling
process is a more efficient and economical alternative to conventional
seam milling processes (for example gouging and grinding).
Seam milling can reduce the costs per meter of weld seam by more than
50%. On the one hand these savings result from the reduction of weld
seam preparation time and on the other hand from the reduction of the
required welding deposit and welding time.
Seam milling machines can be used for circular and long seams.
As a rule the production process of
pipes and vessels begins with the
inside welding process followed by
the outside welding process. The
milling machine for longitudinal
seams mills the seam preparation
from the outside of the tube. These
milling machines are standard
machines and can be equipped with
the corresponding work supports
and turning rolls just as requested
by the customer.
By means of these milling
machines pipes and shells are
prepared for the outside welding
process which follows the inside
welding process. These serial
machines are designed for the
mobile use and they can easily be
transported to the place of action
that means to the particular work
piece. An indoor crane is used for
the transportation.
